You love your pup the most and can’t really ignore its wants. What if it begs something really dangerous to eat? Do you know what foods are poisonous for your pet dog? Are you aware of the fact that certain foods that are otherwise healthy and tasty for you are actually toxic for your furry friend? 

So, what can dogs not eat? Here is a list of certain foods that a dog can’t eat. This list contains foods that are healthy for human, like nuts and certain fruits, such as grapes. But, these foods can lead to different dangerous health conditions to dogs and in some cases, even death.

Foods that have sweetener Xylitol

This artificial sweetener Xylitol is found in gums and candies that are labelled as sugar free. Even, it is also found in peanut butter. But, this Xylitol is prone to cause release of insulin, which finally can cause seizures, liver failure as well as brain damage in dogs.

Caffeine, coffee, and chocolates

These three products come with methylxanthines, and these are dangerous for the health of a dog. If a dog ingests these methylxanthines, the animal can suffer from seizures, diarrhea, vomiting, hyperactivity, tremors, abnormal heart rhythm, and excessive urination and thirst. In some cases, the result can be fatal.

Chives, Garlic, and Onions

Whether cooked, raw, or powdered, in any form these foods are bad for your pet dog. These can lead to gastrointestinal irritation and even damage of red blood cell. 

Salty foods

Foods, such as pretzels and chips, which contain salt in heavy form, can cause excessive thirst as well as urination. These can lead to diarrhea, elevated body temperature, depression, seizures, and to some extent death.

Nuts especially macadamias

Most nuts, like walnuts, pecans, and almonds, contain fats and oils in high amounts. And this can lead to pancreatitis, diarrhea, and vomiting. And macadamias will cause depression, weakness, tremors, hyperthermia, and vomiting.
