CBD For Pets – Appetite Stimulant.

One of the many joys of having a pet as a companion is feeding time. Many owners feel a sense of joy watching their pets gleefully devour the food placed in front of them. When your pet refuses to eat however, it becomes a cause for concern. A loss of appetite can be an early indicator of more serious conditions down the line.

It is important however to note that pets usually lose appetite for a vast number of reasons. Sometimes their reasons are serious while other times it should be no cause for alarm. So, before you ring up your vet at 10:00 o’clock at night, you need to be sure that you are justified in your concerns. If your pet shows other symptoms in addition to the loss of appetite, then it’s time to go to the vet. Sometimes all you need to do is allow your pet a few days to regain his/her appetite.

In many cases, worried pet owners rush their pets to the vet just to find out that their cat or dog did like the ‘new’ brand of food you brought home.  If your pet has been diagnosed with an illness that affects his/her appetite or if loss of appetite is a side effects of medication and treatment they are on – you may need to stimulate your pet’s appetite. CBD has shown remarkable results when administered to pets in order to stimulate the appetite. In addition to other medicinal uses of CBD which include pain relief, anti-inflammation, mood regulation, as well as the control of seizures, it also offers benefits to the digestive system as well as appetite stimulation.

In humans, recreational cannabis shows a similar effect often referred to as “the munchies”. People would feel a strong urge to eat after indulging in some recreational cannabis. Although the munchies are caused by THC, a psychoactive cannabinoid. CBD has a similar effect although it is slightly milder, and it does not come with any psychoactive effects. CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system in the body, this system is responsible for maintaining the natural balance in the body as well as the regulation of pain and inflammation in addition to appetite.

Since CBD is not toxic and has no psychoactive properties, it is quite safe to administer CBD to your pet. Giving CBD to your pet will help improve the appetite while relaxing their nerves and reducing pain in case of any other underlying ailments. It does this by interacting with the cannabinoid receptors present in the digestive system. Because of the direct reaction with the cannabinoid receptors, CBD is known to have a direct effect on disorders in the digestive system as well as the nervous system. Anxiety sometimes is the cause of the loss of appetite in pets. By acting directly on the cannabinoid receptors in the nervous system, CBD will calm your pet’s nerves, eliminating the cause for the loss of appetite while stimulating appetite in your pet. CBD also relieves nausea while acting on the cannabinoid receptors in the digestive system as well as regulating the appetite hormones.
